Rhayader, Mid Wales & the surrounding area

There is lots to do in Mid Wales, especially in and around Rhayader.

Just three miles away are the beautiful Elan Valley Dams. There are lots of walks and trails around the five large Victorian Dams, suitable for all abilities.

There's also a driving loop around the whole Valley with plenty of places to stop and take in the breathtaking scenery.

The Elan Valley

We are lucky enough to have some stunning scenery in and around Rhayader, most beautiful being the Elan Valley Dams which is only three miles up the road, it has lots of walks all around the five large Victorian Dams suitable for all abilities, but if you don't want to walk around them, there is also a road which does a loop around the whole Valley with plenty of places to stop and take in the breath taking scenery.

Quackers

Quackers is an indoor soft play centre at Newbridge-on-Wye. It is the ideal place to take your children for a great day out, letting them use up all there energy running around while you can sit on the table and chairs at the side with a hot drink and piece of cake. It is about a 15 minute drive from our hotel

Welsh Royal crystal

Visitors to the Welsh Royal Crystal can enjoy a tour of the manufacturing process which features glass blowing, cutting and decoration of the glass shape and final polishing as well as a browse in the shop of Welsh Royal Crystal products. Tours are available between 9.30am and 4.30pm daily (Glass blowing tours are only available on certain days, you can check availability on 01597 811005).

Gigrin Farm

Gigrin Farm is a rehabilitation centre for Red Kites that also has a Red Kite feeding station, they feed everyday from 3pm (2pm from 30 Ocotber until end of March). It is a very interesting place to visit as you can learn all about the fantastic Red Kites which were on the verge of extinction but thanks to places like Gigrin farm they have become a much stronger population. The farm is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel or a two minute drive.
